Forensic Science Queensland (FSQ) is an independent Statuary Authority and forensic service provider led by the Director of Forensic Science Queensland who is a Statutory Officer under the Forensic Science Queensland Act 2024 - Queensland Legislation - Queensland Government. FSQ supports the criminal justice and coronial systems with specialised services in Forensic Biology and Forensic Chemistry.
What We Do
- Forensic Biology: Examination, identification and recovery of biological material, and the analysis and interpretation of DNA evidence. The Division provide forensic intelligence to law enforcement and expert opinion evidence to the justice system of Queensland.
- Forensic Chemistry: Delivery of analytical services for the identification of known and novel emerging illicit drugs, in addition to expertise in physical and chemical trace evidence. The Division perform a vital role in supporting law enforcement by attending clandestine drug laboratories to render them safe and collect and process evidence.
